Abstract
The aim of this PhD project is to bring new insight to understand the rheological properties of polymeric systems at the molten state. The flow properties of well-defined polymeric melts, which includes associative polymers, are studied based on a a variety of rheological techniques in both shear and extensional flow. In most instances, these rheological experiments are combined with predictions of molecular models to effectively capture the diverse contributions that influence the material's rheological response. These contributions arise from factors such as the segmental motion of chains, the disentanglement process, and the dissociation of the supramolecular junctions. The ultimate goal is to develop general guidelines for controlling the design of polymeric materials based on a deep understanding of their rheological behavior.
