Abstract
(en) This paper analyses the evolution of feminisation policy in French-speaking Belgium, based on two decrees (1993 and 2021) and the accompanying guides to good practice (2024 for the latest). More specifically, we review the political arguments used to accept or reject certain practices and report on the evolution of the types of feminine forms recommended, as well as the restrictions applied to the use of the point médian or the masculine in its so-called generic value. Other concepts or uses not recommended by the 2021 decree, such as unmarked gender, the French pronoun iel or agreement by proximity, are analysed in terms of their implications for inclusive communication.
