(en) This article explores the resonance of the work and personality of Germaine de Staël in George Sand’s work, at a key moment in her career, from the publication of Lélia in 1839 to the diptych formed by Consuelo and La Comtesse de Rudolstadt (1842-44). We’ll show how Stael’s work and figure enabled Sand to think about the condition of the woman artist and the public role of the writer, all the more so in the case of a female author.
