- Cada palabra de los textos de Cecilia G. de Guilarte sobre el exilio funge como un anzuelo lanzado hacia la España que le fue arrebatada. Al estallar la Guerra Civil, fue la primera y única mujer corresponsal en el frente norte republicano. Tras la victoria franquista, se exilia con su familia y, luego de un breve período en Francia, se instalará en México (1940-1966), lugar que servirá de escenario a su novela "La soledad y sus ríos" (1975). A partir de las propuestas teóricas de Ahmed (2015) y Mora (2016), se propone analizar la interacción entre emociones y empatía en el contexto del exilio de la protagonista, Karle. Argumentamos que la novela muestra cómo la relación entre emociones y lenguaje contribuye a la reconstrucción identitaria del exiliado y facilita la creación de nuevas redes sociales basadas en vínculos contingentes derivados de la socialidad del dolor y la empatía. Este análisis se complementa con las estrategias de empatía narrativa de Keen (2006), adaptadas a la forma en que los personajes reaccionan ante las injusticias hacia los indígenas. [ENGLISH] Every word in Cecilia G. de Guilarte’s writing about exile acts as a hook thrown to the Spain that was taken from her. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, she became the first and only female correspondent on the Republican North Front. Franco’s regime victory forced her and her family into exile. After a short stay in France, she ended up settling in Mexico (1940-1966), a country that would serve as the setting for her novel, "La soledad y sus ríos" (1975). Based on the theoretical proposals of Ahmed (2015) and Mora (2016), this study aims to analyze the interaction between emotions and empathy in the context of the exile of the main character, Karle. We argue that the novel demonstrates how the relationship between emotions and language contributes to the exiled individual’s identity reconstruction and facilitates the creation of new social networks based on contingent bonds rooted in the sociality of pain and empathy. This analysis is complemented by Keen’s (2006) strategies of narrative empathy, adapted to the way the characters react to the injustices faced by Indigenous people.
