- Thirty years after J. and L. Jehasse’s excavations, new archaeological researches on the Archaic and Hellenistic fortifications of Aleria challenge commonly accepted ideas about them. By combining archive documents, unpublished materials, new surveys, and excavations, works carried out from 2018 to 2021 shed new light on the nature, the function, and the chronology of these rare monumental remains predating the Roman city. Beyond lies the very specific question of the configuration and location of the city of Alalia mentioned by Herodotus.
