Abstract
(en) It is shown that when a backstop technology is developed guaranteeing negligible post-entry demand for an exhaustible resource, specifically accounting for the inequalities on the positivity restriction and exhaustibility constraint when a resource monopolist faces alternative backstop entry dates results in a number of extraction profiles, each of which is optimal.
