Abstract
The goal of the present research is rst to work out the dynamic behavior of an independent wheeled articulated bogie, by means of a 3D detailed multibody model. Previous research works have pointed out the poor dynamic behavior of the bogie on a straight track, whereas in curve it correctly deforms, leading to a noticeable reduction of the wheel/rail angle of attack and thus of wear. Then, to improve the above-mentioned straight track behavior, we have carried out a model-based study and proposed a technically reasonable solution in order to re-stabilize the vehicle by means of slight geometrical modications of the articulated structure. The modied vehicle behavior is compared with the original one and also with equivalent wheelset bogies in terms of mean dissipated power along a representative tramway trajectory.
