(en) Building a contemporary art exhibition based on a novel is the challenge that the M HKA took on in 2019. This novel, Amberes, was the first written by Roberto Bolaño. From this singular project, we aim to see how a literary work can underpin the curatorial gesture: what is the nature of the seminal role of the novel, and more broadly of its author, and how do they impact the content and form of the exhibition, as well as the way that we, as visitors, are invited to look at the works on view and their display at the M HKA?
