(en) The thesis focuses on the governance of local authorities in the chiefdom Kinkondja in Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We observe how these authorities reposition themselves within the new landscape of the state at the national and even at the international level. We discuss the role and the place of traditional leaders in the consolidation of a nation-state building. Finally, we answer the question of how to consider a new framework in which local traditional authorities could justifiably intervene in the new governance, consequent upon the dysfunction of the state apparatus in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
