Abstract
(en) This paper focuses on Hélène Gaudy’s novel Un monde sans rivage, published in 2019. In this story of a failed journey, Gaudy problematises the imagery and the power of maps while proposing a literary cartography through montage. Using this artistic process, Gaudy creates interstices that both undermine the cartographic description and bring to mind the device of certain atlases. Her writing thus establishes an atlas of white areas that is particularly well suited to sampling the disaster threatening the Arctic.
