Abstract
(en) We define a notion of cartel stability, which allows firms to perceive the impact of their actions on overall competitiveness in the market. We demonstrate that in an industry with linear demand and marginal cost conditions and possibly diverse firms a stable cartel always exists. Furthermore, we determine the characteristics of stable cartels such as uniqueness, size and possible heterogeneity.
