Concevoir des espaces d'écoute clinique pour des enfants travailleurs et leur famille : une recherche-action dans des institutions éducatives d'éradication du travail des enfants en Équateur
(en) The issue of child labor, when viewed strictly from the perspective of the human rights discourse -that proposes the abolition of under age children work on behalf of the laws and the human dignity- shows a limited aspect of the problem: it is thought outside the real life context, and does not try to understand the social and the psychological environment of the child. Both are important, distrusting the simplistic position requiring the eradication of child labor by enacting laws, as well as setting a distance from the view which considers only the social and family aspects that may justify these practices. In an attempt to reach a better understanding of the child labour issue in accordance with the local requirements, a project with an original approach was built with the collaboration of Ecuadorian and Belgian organizations: the creation of a specialised psychological workspace, with a psychoanalytical nature, in two socio-educational institutions. This workspace can’t just be limited to facilitate the educator’s work, but it tries to create a dynamic therapy for the children and their families. To achieve this challenge, using the action-research methodology, the collaboration of a team of professionals in different fields of social sciences was necessary (psychologists, academics, social workers, educators, advocates, among others). The project has created a partnership process between various agencies (universities, socio-educational institutions and private financial) that has been maintained throughout the duration of the research. The study has received from the different participants a cross-fertilization of an unsuspected richness, as the reader will discover.
