Abstract
Forty-two percent of IBD patients have MASLD. The risk factors are the same as in the general population (obesity, metabolic syndrome, older age). Importantly, 39% of the IBD-MASLD patients do not present metabolic syndrome. Other risk factors specific to IBD include diagnosis of IBD at a later age, stricturing phenotype, as well as the absence of certain treatments. This high prevalence justifies screening these patients, as severe fibrosing MASLD has been diagnosed. Analysis of larger cohorts would be useful to confirm the specific risks associated with IBD and possibly propose more specific screening in this population.
