Germany Morrison, Enrique

Enrique Germany Morrison began his academic journey at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile, where he earned his B.Sc. in Engineering Sciences (2012) and Professional Title of Biomedical Engineer (2014), continuing with an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (2015). He completed his PhD. in Electrical Engineering in 2020, focusing on biomedical signal acquisition systems, where he contributed to research on myoelectric prosthetics and biomedical instrumentation, with extensive experience in both hardware and software development. During his first Postdoctoral stay at Universidad de Concepción from 2020 to 2022, he conducted research and development on a wireless mesh network of Bluetooth Low Energy inertial measurement units (IMUs) for body movement tracking. Applications range from rehabilitation to work-environment musculoskeletal risk assessments. From 2022 to 2026, Dr. Germany Morrison was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Epilepsy and Neuromodulation Lab (ENL) at the Institute of Neuroscience (IoNS), Université Catholique de Louvain, in Brussels. In this role, he conducted cutting-edge research on refractory epilepsy and neurostimulation therapies. Starting in 2026, he joined the Louvain School of Engineering (EPL) as an academic in Biomedical Engineering within the ELEN Department. As a researcher associated with the ICTEAM Institute, his research interests lie at the intersection of biomedical signal acquisition, advanced signal processing, and neural engineering, with a special focus on developing closed-loop biomedical systems. This interdisciplinary background underpins his contributions to both engineering and neuroscience.
