The present contribution takes a first, albeit tentative, systematic look at the way in which the LXX translation of Deuteronomy 12 deals with the phenomenon of the Numeruswechsel. Although this analysis does not claim to be exhaustive, it will give some indication that the LXX translator seems to have made very deliberate choices in dealing with the problem with which he was confronted. However, with respect to this aspect of the LXX translation, one should take into account that it is extremely difficult to determine whether it was the LXX translator or rather his Hebrew Vorlage that was responsible for the variant readings in comparison with the MT.
