Abstract
Parenting is one of the biggest challenges in adulthood. This role can cause stress, fatigue and lead to real distress. Parental distress has a negative impact on the entire family system and, in particular, parent-child relationships. However, partner support can be an essential resource for the parent in distress. The general objective of this thesis is to study the relationships between parental distress, support between partners and quality of parent-child relationships. This work will begin with a literature review of the three variables of interest. Next, the results of four empirical studies will be presented to better understand the associations between parental distress, partner support and parent-child relationships. Finally, the results of this thesis will be discussed in the light of their contributions in the field of scientific research and clinical practice.
