Abstract
Highlights • Spent coffee ground was valorized by fungal digestion (FD) and anaerobic digestion. • FD dissipated 20% of the substrate COD, to recover 5% as edible carpophores. • Anaerobic digestion (AD) recovered 50% of substrate COD as biomethane (CH4). • FD decreased the amount of organic matter available but maintained its digestibility. • Cascade conversion by FD + AD offered a best economic conversion of the substrate.
