Abstract
This article is an exercise of comparative reading of the texts Reden an die deutsche Nation, published by Johann Gottlieb Fichte in 1808 in Berlim, and Crítica da Razão Tupiniquim, published by Roberto Gomes in 1977 in São Paulo. If, at first glance, both universes seem so distant that one can hardly see a ground to comparison, the motivation of both arguments appear however to share a common intellectual flame, inasmuch as both are fighting to prevent the imprisonment of the local spirit in the chains of a symbolic universe coming from the outside. The aim of this study is to explore both works in their respective contexts so as to delineate the outlines of this common motivation. After a confrontation of both texts, we will, as a conclusion, advance a brief sketch of the possible gains of such a comparative approach.
