- Abstract
- (en) This paper addresses the way of finding a place for the Exile within the history of philosophy in Chile. It attempts to emphasize the distinction between the philosophy made during exile and the philosophy in a dictatorship context without leaving the country. After contrasting different approaches about the comprehension of the history of Chilean philosophy, the paper will focus on the significant role that the everyday life plays in understanding Chilean philosophy after the coup. In fact, everyday life is what makes the distinction between philosophical activity carried out when ordinary life takes place in authoritarian countries and when life happens in exile. Particularly, the exiled philosopher is who undergoes a break in his everyday life. Finally, some consequences regarding the inclusion of exile for the construction of the Chilean philosophy are taken into account.
