Abstract
The residence time in a semi-enclosed domain of the particles of a constituent is defined. Then, a forward-in-time method for calculating this timescale is outlined, which involves an integral of a semi-infinite time-interval. An approximate of the latter (i.e. an integral over a finite time interval) is worked out and the associated error is estimated. Potential applications of this method are mentioned.
