Abstract
Exod 23,20-33, the so-called epilogue to the Book of the Covenant (Exod 20,22–23,19), is undoubtedly one of these passages that are at the core of the discussion about the presence of so-called proto-Deuteronomic elements within Genesis-Numbers. In this contribution, I will focus on this passage, taking a look at and evaluating the place it occupies within current literary-critical Pentateuch studies, against the background of its characterisation as Deuteronom(ist)ic or proto-Deuteronomic.
