Abstract
(en) This article aims to assess the extent to which public priesthoods in Rome and Italian cities recruited freedmen during the first three centuries AD. What public cults did the freed priests and priestesses serve? Were these exceptions among their colleagues? Or, conversely, did some cults more readily recruit priests and priestesses of servile extraction?
