Abstract
Mal 3:22 24 is one of those pericopes in which the Masoretic Text (MT) clearly diverges from the LXX. The discussion on these verses, however, widely surpasses the discipline of textual criticism. Particularly from the last decades of the 20th century on, the pericope has been considered as having a specific 'canonical' function, which has been clearly linked to its characterisation as the redactional appendix to the book of Malachi. However, a text-critical analysis of these verses can seriously call into question this 'canonical' function of Mal 3:22 24.
