Abstract
(en) This edited volume provides a comprehensive and timely analysis of the growing role of EU financial agencies, with particular emphasis on the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) as the newest and most innovative addition to the EU’s administrative landscape. Anchored in the broader phenomenon of EU agencification, the book examines the legal, institutional, and governance challenges that arise from the expansion of agency powers in the financial sector. It offers an integrated assessment of existing financial agencies—including the European Supervisory Authorities and the Single Resolution Board—before turning to AMLA’s distinctive mandate, design, and accountability mechanisms. Through doctrinal, institutional, and comparative perspectives, the contributions explore issues such as delegation of powers, judicial review, multilevel cooperation, and the constraints imposed by the Meroni doctrine. By situating AMLA within both established and evolving models of EU financial governance, the volume sheds new light on the future trajectory of EU administrative law and financial supervision.
