Abstract
This paper presents the work carried out by the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain, Belgium) in collaboration with the Municipality of Montelupo Fiorentino between 2023 and 2025, within the framework of a fruitful partnership with the Scientific Directorate of its Museum System. As a preliminary step towards the resumption of archaeological investigations at the Villa del Vergigno, this contribution provides: (1) the results of the site's three-dimensional survey, undertaken to document, promote, and disseminate knowledge of the archaeological remains; and (2) a concise and selective overview of previously unpublished materials recovered during the excavations conducted at the villa between 1981 and 2019. The aim is twofold: first, to present new evidence that contributes to a better understanding of settlement patterns in the area during the Roman period; and second, to highlight the value of the extensive research carried out over several decades by making available, albeit only partially, an updated synthesis of the results of earlier archaeological investigations for both the scholarly community and the wider public.
