Researchers are increasingly applying corpus techniques to study learner language. This article provides an overview of such techniques and research designs, focusing specifically on those that are directly relevant to the study of learner production. We also cover domains within which most learner corpus research has been carried out. Such domains include lexis, phraseology, grammar, and linguistic complexity.
