Abstract
Bullying among students is a widespread and persistent problem in both the Flemish and French communities in Belgium. This chapter first describes the phenomenon of school bullying in Belgium, presenting its prevalence and evolution in different age groups over the last decade. Second, it briefly reviews bullying-related research in Belgium. Third, an overview is given of prevention and intervention efforts against bullying in schools. Also, governmental and legal initiatives, that is, policies and laws that directly or indirectly address school bullying, are discussed. Throughout, critical reflections and recommendations are given to further prevent and reduce bullying.
