Many task modeling notations, task analysis methods, and supporting tools have been introduced in human-computer interaction communities, often with different goals and strengths. With this comes need to understand their scopes and their differences. This paper extends previous work by conducting a survey on task models along with their supporting tools. The survey was carried out in three dimensions. Descriptive, meta-models were created for each evaluated approach as a common description. Comparative, a protocol is used to compare models. Generative, resulting from comparison a robust task model is proposed that considers most relevant aspects. This task model has been successfully applied in several real-life case studies.
