- (en) This study examines the place held by the field of Christian theology in Cartesian philosophy. More specifically, we focus on the way theology appears in Cartesian philosophy. The aim is to show that theology appears in an ambivalent way: some Cartesian texts show theology as situated within a horizon of superiority that nevertheless remains indeterminate; other texts show theology as a support for the primacy of the philosophical approach. Ultimately, these two ways in which Cartesian philosophy makes theology appear contribute to assimilating the latter to an invisible, with regard to an underlying presence that proves to carry philosophical stakes.
