- The Shawāhid al-rubūbiyya (The Divine Witnesses) presents in a concise and comprehensive way the complete cycle of Ṣadrā’s understanding of reality, from an exposition of the principles of his metaphysics, to their consequences in his comprehension of the nature of the relationship between the First Principle and what is other than him, the coming to be of this world and its finality, and human beings’ place and role in the structure of reality. This chapter explores what Ṣadrā has to say on these topics in the Shawāhid (completed with readings from the Asfār), tries to situate Ṣadrā’s thought in its intellectual background, and introduces the readers to Ṣadrā’s method in doing philosophy
