Abstract
Based on the multivariate approach, a set of cognitive, conative and emotional characteristics can be identified as the psychological basis of creativity. These characteristics combine in interactive ways to yield varying degrees of creative potential. The large number of existing behavioral science studies permits a rich synthesis of results that point to a set of key intellectual, personality, motivational, and emotional facets that creative people show. The relative importance of these characteristics varies according to the nature of the creative work and the domain of endeavor. This chapter presents an overview of these concepts with illustrative examples.
