A search for heavy neutral lepton (N) production in <math altimg="si8.svg"><mrow><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><mo>→</mo><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><mi>N</mi></mrow></math> in-flight decays using data collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2017–2024 is reported. Upper limits for the extended neutrino mixing matrix element |Ue4|<sup loc="post">2</sup> are established at the level of <math altimg="si19.svg"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>8</mn></mrow></msup></math> for heavy neutral leptons with mass in the range 95–126 MeV/c<sup loc="post">2</sup> and lifetime exceeding 50 ns.
