At the last IABEP meeting, the decision was made to set up a working group to develop biomonitoring protocols. The IABEP Working Group on Sampling Protocols is dedicated to advancing and standardising biomonitoring practices for assessing air pollution. The group addresses a wide range of methods and promotes the adoption of best practice within the IABEP community. Its work centres on three key objectives: 1) Endorsing validated protocols by supporting their dissemination and encouraging their wider use; 2) reviewing alternative sampling methods to assess their strengths, limitations and potential improvements; 3) identifying knowledge gaps and open questions in emerging techniques. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the current state of art with some practical examples and propose steps to initiate the group's activities.
