Abstract
This publication explores how cultural heritage can “speak” through time, focusing on the Hokusai Manga preserved at UCLouvain. Donated by Japan after the destruction of Leuven’s university library in World War I, this exceptional collection reflects the lasting impact of Japanese visual culture in Europe. By tracing the complex history of the Hokusai Manga’s many reprints and recarved woodblocks, the text reveals how material wear, reproduction, and transmission give new voices to heritage objects across generations.
