Franchir les frontières professionnelles …entre désengagement et réengagement, une analyse longitudinale des dynamiques identitaires en jeu dans la reconversion professionnelle volontaire vers l’enseignement primaire
In a context of teacher shortages, attracting new educators is essential, but ensuring their long-term retention is even more crucial. Among them, second-career primary teachers engaged in a voluntary professional reconversion remain little known, even though their prior expertise can enrich the profession. Based on a longitudinal study from the beginning of training to entry into the field, this thesis highlights the ruptures, adjustments, and identity tensions that shape their transition. The findings reveal a paradox: while their previous experience is often seen as an asset, it can also be challenged depending on the norms and expectations they encounter. Discreet actors yet potential silent transformers of the school system, they invite us to rethink the conditions that support long-term commitment. The study proposes a contextualized model of reconversion, offering insights to understand their trajectories and strengthen their retention in the profession.
