Abstract
Opening Address: L’entretien synodal, l’élan d’Église retrouvé(e)/‘The time of germination’: Synodal Conversations, the Momentum of the Church Rediscovered, and the Momentum of a Rediscovered Church”, International Conference on Synodality Since the conclusion of the First Session of the XVI General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, dubbed Synod on Synodality (30 September – 29 October 2023), the questions of the nature, process, content, and praxis of synodality continue to emerge. This colloquium focuses on deepening the theological conversation the Synod on Synodality (2021-2024) within the 11-month period of intersession. Indeed, apart from the ecclesiological and pastoral realities that require synodality, there are the anticipated consequences of synodality in every aspect of the life and mission of the Church. In an attempt to respond to the many questions raised from the ecclesial journey so far, this colloquium explores from many perspectives, the process, outcome, and reactions from the First Session on the life and mission of the Church, both at the universal and local levels. By bringing together a highly scientific team made up of participants at the Synod, and theologians the objective of this timely colloquium is to deepen the dialogue on the ecclesiology of synodality in preparation for the final session that would begin in October 2024, while at once renewing and rediscovering ecclesial momentum.
