- (en) Rejecting both the theoretical and the mythical models, Émergence is a « narrative », a series of « stories », like so many images in an album recounting « in approximate form and through examples » the natural history of the world. However, we feel that it is legitimate to read the work as a book of classical philosophy, in which the emphasis on narrative, the association of chapters with dates in the history of then this paper, we propose a rationalist reading of the work, and question the legitimacy of its presuppositions, the coherence of its propositions, and the validity of its consequences.
