Abstract
This study investigates the effect of a change in gravity on trajectory planning of vertical pointing movements to elucidate how gravity is integrated in motor planning. Subjects were asked to perform arm straight rotation around the shoulder in an environment where terrestrial gravity was nearly doubled. The results support the hypothesis that hyper gravity is well compensated in a feed forward manner and the observed behaviors are consistent with prediction of energy-optimal control design.
