The present thesis lies at the intersection of environmental and parenthood psychology and is structured around two research axes. The first axis examined the relation between environmental concerns and the desire for children. It showed that the relation was negative and mediated by two kinds of concerns (for the child and for the environment), but also showed that environmental concerns do not predict the desire for children beyond other established predictors. The second axis examined the relations between perceived parental eco-responsibility, pro-environmental behaviors, parental exhaustion and parental well-being. Perceived parental eco-responsibility was weakly associated with more parental exhaustion but also with more parental well-being. Pro-environmental behaviors were not associated with parental exhaustion nor well-being (except in a few cases), which has encouraging societal implications.
