Abstract
This paper argues that a proper understanding of ‘education about faith’ in Nigeria (and of course elsewhere) must comprise the ecumenical and inter-faith components in order to be truly representative of the concept of faith. The concept of Nkuzi nk’okwukwe (lit. “education about faith”) presents thus a hermeneutical key to broaden the reception of ecumenical and interreligious theological formation in Christian Theological Institutions (CTIs) in Nigeria. On the basis of this claim, my task in this paper is to set an agenda for such an education. In doing this, I shall present two broad ideas interspersed with some random thoughts. These shall include, a) some fundamental discourses that are required for such an education, and b) the practical modes such an education should take within the pedagogical scheme of the CTIs. Yet, in order to situate the argument within a broader universal context, I shall offer brief thoughts on the task of education for peace that is required of CTIs all over the world.
