Abstract
According to the FAO and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, the role of diversification is essential for the sustainability and resilience of the food system. This principle, which applies primarily to food production (genetic resources, crops, species, varieties, production methods, etc.), lies at the heart of a healthy diet. In this view, it seems interesting to establish a link between a healthy, sustainable and sovereign agri-food sector and market diversification (diversity of production, distribution, consumption and regulation of foodstuffs. On this basis, it seems possible to propose a number of measures aimed at transforming the current organisation of the agri-food market, in particular the competition rules that apply to economic operators and the production and marketing rules that apply to foodstuffs. Lastly, it would seem appropriate to question, more fundamentally, the importance of market diversification in terms of the effects it has on lifestyles in general.
