- In 2024, the concept of Radiolucent lines and aseptic loosening in primary total knee arthroplasty, still remains confusing, inducing an increased rate of revision and health care costs. This book presents the work of a doctoral thesis about radiolucent lines. The scientific work describes their observation, their classification and is giving some tips to assure the follow-up, particularly because some can evolve to aseptic loosening of the implant. Based, on our observations, we have tried to understand the impact of the implant design on the occurrence of radiolucent lines and aseptic loosening, comparing two types of implant. Our conclusions led us to comparing the same implant with and without metaphyseal stem extension and to observe the occurrence of radiolucent lines and aseptic loosening. This doctoral thesis, gave us the opportunity to obtain the answers to some of our initial questions and to develop further perspectives, to a better clinical and scientific explanation of these two interrelated concepts.
