Abstract
Organizations are increasingly introducing new ways working (NWW) by implementing a set of organizational practices and work conditions that follow ideals of flexibility, empowerment, freedom, and democracy (Peters et al., 2014; Taskin et al., 2017). In the NWW, the organization provides workers with flexible work conditions that allow them to choose where and when to work. They include telework, flexible schedules, unassigned-desk polices, and activity-based offices (Kingma, 2019; Sewell & Taskin, 2015; Sivunen & Putnam, 2020). These work conditions are implemented along organizational practices that provide employees with more work ownership and participation opportunities, while reducing bureaucratic constrains and slack (Kaufman, 2001; O’Leary et al., 2011). These organizational practices include the use of multiple and short-lived teams, participative management and management by objectives (Peters et al., 2014; Picard et al., 2020).
