Diagrams are abstractions of reality. A diagrammatic practice is based on the belief that abstracting reality is an effective tool for understanding and transforming it. In the light of the recent wave of architectural practices based on a return to representation, identity, and language, we want to advocate for abstraction and estrangement as tools to engage with the planetary scale of the problems we face, such as climate change, pandemics, and environmental degradation.
