Abstract
Intercultural sensitivity has proved to influence every-day life communication of individuals living abroad. However, little is known about whether the same applies to cultural mediators. The present study investigates in how far cultural conceptions, intercultural sensitivity and other sociolinguistic aspects such as length of stay or language proficiency level shape the practices of German culture mediators living in Belgium. The results from a survey conducted under fifty-four culture mediators show that cultural conceptions do not necessarily modulate the degree of intercultural sensitivity and that the existence of positive and negative stereotypes do not directly impair intercultural dialog.
