This paper offers a contrastive analysis of the morphemes corresponding to 'giant' in Dutch (reuze), German (riesen), Swedish (jätte) and French (géant). The analysis provides a comparison of their bound and free uses and a cross-linguistic analysis of their construction types, productivity, bleaching and degree of debonding.
