The Wallonian Agro-Industry Cluster wagralim decided for the first time to promote the PhD work of a young scientist. The purpose of this Award is to highlight a researcher who has written a doctoral thesis on new concepts or applications in the field of food industries. Seven applications were examined by the jury consisting of five scientists, a member of Fevia, a member of wagralim and one industrial. The prize was awarded to the winner on Tuesday 20 September, during the annual event of wagralim, in the presence of more than 150 people. The PhD was chosen for its scientific qualities and especially for its applicability in the Agro-Food Industry. The winner, Philippe Eliaers, is a young man of thirty years old, who has completed his PhD in the laboratory of Materials and Process Engineering at the Université catholique de Louvain, under the direction of Professor Juray De Wilde.
