(en) The first translators of the Septuagint probably did not have a translation model they could refer to in order to tackle a corpus like the Torah. Which choices did they make ? And were these choices followed up by the translators of the later books, then by the Africans who in the second century CE carried the Old and New Testaments over from Greek into Latin ? Which options agree with the choice made by Saint Jerome to go back to the hebraica veritas ? The following pages will endeavor to respond to these questions.
