Doubts about the effectiveness and desirability of growth have fed interest in other ways of securing an adequate income to everyone. In this chapter, we argue that the proper way of addressing today’s unprecedented challenges while fostering social cohesion is to make minimum income protection fully unconditional, through the implementation of a basic income.
