This chapter is a summary of a presentation given at the 9th Symposium of Red Renta Basica, the Spanish basic income network, in 2009. It focuses on three issues regarding the idea of giving everyone a basic income: the issue of human capital, the opposition of trade unions, and the fact of basic income being obligation-free.
